Martha Greene of Warrenton was experiencing pain in her stomach in 2006. When it didn’t stop, she went to see her physician in Henderson who sent her to UNC’s Dr. Linda Van Le. Greene was diagnosed with endometrial and ovarian cancers. She was treated with aggressive chemotherapy and did well.
In 2008, she developed recurrent disease for which she is undergoing chemotherapy every three week.
“Facing cancer is a big challenge,” Green said. "But I have the tremendous support of my husband, Richard. When I was diagnosed, he told me, “I’ll be with you every step of the way. We’re going through this thing together.’”
She gives the UNC team “an A++. Everyone is so wonderful and nice. That means a lot to me and the other patients.”
She advises cancer patients to “stay with God every day and find good doctors.”
